Our MP Bim Afolami worked closely with local groups, including the Hitchin Forum, CleanUp Hitchin and councillors from all parties on the Big Green Hitchin Litter Pick.
The event, held on the 21st October, was a tremendous success - with over 200 volunteers turning out!
Bim commented, “The Big Green Hitchin Litter Pick was a great opportunity for everyone to ensure that our town is the cleanest it can be.
I’m delighted so many people turned up to set a great example for our future generations and show them keeping clean and green is fun.”
As well as helping out at the Litter Pick, Hitchin Conservative Chair Dominic Griffiths and your local councillors have been working with the Countryside Management services to help improve the footpaths and entrances to all our parklands and woods.
Dominic said, “I have signed up to help tidy our countryside with the Friends of Great Ashby and members of our party have been helping to clean up Hitchin.
It is also great to see that North Hertfordshire council has made into the top 20 councils that recycle the most in the country.”
