During lockdown there have been many incidents of fly tipping all over the district. The most serious case in Wheathampstead happened recently at Sheepcote Lane, when over 30 engine oil containers were dumped.
“This was a really despicable incidence” said District Councillor Sandra Wood. “Whoever did it appear to have deliberately poured nearly 2000 litres of used oil onto the lane, causing a great deal of mess and pollution”. Cllr. Wood has been working closely with District Council officers to explore ways of reducing this problem and has requested the deployment of mobile CCTV cameras in order to identify and prosecute the fly tippers.
