Following the Budget, Bim went out and about in Harpenden to speak to local businesses about how it will benefit them.
Bim said, "The Budget had some really good news for our high streets – 90% of our retailers will benefit from a cut in business rates of 1/3. When I spent the afternoon shopping in Harpenden last week, I spoke to many of our retailers who said that this will really help.
The Budget also offered more – a large £675m “Future High Streets” fund, which will enable small towns (like both Hitchin and Harpenden) to access government funds to reshape themselves for a digital age. I am working closely with small retailers in both towns to see how this can help us make our high streets even better places to live work and shop."
